The goals are to provide a safe, quality, dependable public transit system; to connect people in rural areas to health care, employment, education, public services, and recreation; and to provide an equivalent level of transportation service for citizens with disabilities in rural areas. The program provides public and medical transportation. Residents are asked to schedule an appointment at least 72 hours in advance. Medical trips have priority. Fares are as follows: one-way trip is $3.00 or $6.00 for a round trip within the county of residence. An additional $3.00 is charged for every county line crossed. Extra stops under 15 minutes are $1.00. Extra stops over 15 minutes are $3.00.
Provides assistance to travelers who become stranded due to vehicle breakdown, lack of funds to purchase gas, lost/stolen bus tickets, victimized and needing travel assistance. Must have a home to go to and must have insurance on vehicle and a valid Drivers License.
Provides bus transportation within the City of Knoxville for a small fee. Children under 5 ride free. Seniors, the disabled, College Students, and school-aged children (K-12) ride for a discounted price with a KAT Photo-ID. Sunday Rider service available. Downtown Trolleys are free of charge. Cumberland Ave is free of charge anywhere you see ÒFree Fare ZoneÓ. All KAT bus schedules have Spanish translation included on them.
This program provides general public transportation to medical appointments, employment, and other essential services for Knox County residents who cannot access the services offered by Knoxville Area Transit (KAT). There is a sliding scale fee for services, but resources are limited. Contracts are negotiated to provide transportation for the Office on Aging, Senior Nutrition Program, O’Conner Senior Center, TennCare, Department of Human Services, and other nonprofits programs. Wheelchair-accessible transportation is available.
Non-profit, volunteer-driven program dedicated to providing accessible and affordable transportation to Knox County seniors and persons with disabilities who require aid and assistance to travel safely. Volunteers are thoroughly screened and trained and use agency-owned hybrid vehicles.
This program provides transportation for medical appointments/medical follow-up. Must contact individual transportation program for specific procedure and advance notice requirements. No disability or Social Security appointments. Family must have TennCare and no vehicel in the home.
This program serves individuals who may be at risk of losing their home. Needs are verified, and services are provided. Services include things such as bus tickets, rent assistance, and utility assistance. Vouchers are given instead of cash. Please call for eligibility.
